Problem Statement
The initial goal was to create more accessible micro-lending options for individuals struggling to purchase food. Traditional financial institutions posed barriers due to strict lending policies and distrust in formal banking. Research revealed that people preferred borrowing from friends, family, or informal savings groups like Ajo and Isusu. This insight led to a shift from bank-backed micro-loans to a peer-to-peer lending model, ensuring direct access to food without traditional banking obstacles.
Solution
-
Shifted from bank partnerships to peer-to-peer lending.
-
Designed a seamless process for users to request and receive micro-loans.
-
Ensured funds go directly to vendors to prevent misuse.
-
Developed a user-friendly interface for lenders and borrowers.
