PROJECT OVERVIEW
In Catawba County, there is a negative migration of youth. The idea is to create a website that could help teenagers understand their perspectives in Catawba County from a career point of view.
MY ROLE: As the lead UI designer, I was responsible for creating the entire design system in Figma. This included establishing a cohesive visual identity for the website by focusing on consistency, accessibility, and usability in accordance with K-64's existing brand guides.
FIRST VERSION
The K-64 stakeholders asked to explore options for the younger crowd, that would be beyond their usual brand guides. I used softer pink tones and chose a chunkier font for headings. I chose imagery that would illustrate the metaphor of a path.

FEEDBACK & SECOND VERSION
The K-64 stakeholders appreciated the page structure, the clean overall aesthetic, and the interactive hover effects. However, they requested a return to the traditional K-64 colors and fonts, and asked for the images to feature blue collar workers instead.

FIRST CHALLENGE
USER SPECIFIC ONBOARDING FORMS
Each user type required tailored onboarding forms to gather different sets of information (e.g., personal details for talent users, institutional data for education providers, and company profiles for employers). I designed onboarding forms that minimized visual overload by breaking information into digestible steps, using progress indicators and clear labels.
The challenge was ensuring that users wouldn’t feel overwhelmed by the amount of information required while keeping the forms easy to understand and engaging, especially for talent users, who often needed guidance through the process.

SECOND CHALLENGE
DISPLAYING COMPLEX PROFILE INFO
Challenge: Each user type (talent users, education providers, and employers) required profile sections to display details like education, years of experience, and program types. The challenge was organizing this diverse information without overwhelming users visually.
